The Glenn Miller Story chronicled the life and career of renowned trombonist, arranger, composer, and bandleader Glenn Miller, who became one of America’s most celebrated musical figures during the big-band era. At the height of his fame, Miller put his civilian career on hold and entered military service in 1942, eventually leading an Army Air Force band that entertained Allied troops during World War II.
On December 15, 1944, Miller boarded a small military aircraft at RAF Twinwood Farm near Bedford, England, bound for Paris. The plane disappeared while crossing the English Channel, and neither Miller nor the aircraft was ever found. Despite numerous theories over the decades, the circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unresolved.
