Miami History Blog
The content published on the Miami History Blog is based on years of thorough research on the historic figures, places and events that have shaped the development of the City of Miami, Florida.
Welcome to the new look Miami History Blog website. The purpose of this site is to document the historic figures, events, and places that have shaped the Magic City into the vibrant place it has always been.
My name is Casey Piket and I am the founder of this website, as well as the Miami History Podcast and Miami History Channel. When I started this journey of researching and writing about South Florida History, I learned two very important lessons. First, the greater Miami metropolitan area has been built on fascinating stories. While it is a young city relative to other major cities around the world, there are no shortage of interesting topics to research.
Second, maintaining a website, podcast, and video channel requires a significant and ongoing investment in money and time.
This is why the model for this website is changing slightly. While a lot of content on this site will continue to be freely available to everyone who is interested, about half of the new content will require a paid subscription.
There will be free subscriber access for those who want to be notified of new content, to receive the ‘Miami History Digest’ newsletter, and to have have the ability to add comments to free posts. If you see a ‘Subscribe Now’ button below, you can subscribe for free and receive the aforementioned benefits.
The paid subscription will allow me to continue to cover the costs of maintaining the Miami History blog, podcast, and video channel. For those who have asked how you can support this project, you now can through a paid subscription.
The cost of the paid subscription is $5 per month, or you can select the annual payment option of $50 (a $10 savings off the monthly rate). If you choose to support the Miami History project with your paid subscription, you will help ensure the viability of this project, and in particular this website and podcast.
Thank you for everyone who has been a part of the Miami History e-mail list, read articles on this website, and listened to episodes on the Miami History podcast. My intention is to keep this going for as long as there is interest from the community and it is viable financially.
