Thank you for these wonderful pieces of history and old Miami memories. Viewing the photos of the Biscayne Blvd. Playboy Club certainly brought back, for me, some long lost memories. Circa 1966, as a teen, I regularly fished the Little River Canal from the Playboy Club’s waterside dock. Management let us do so, and shift change was a real treat for this then 16-year old boy. Thanks again, and please keep em’ coming.
I access them quite often from that site. There are a few other archives that have the early editions. I wish newspapers.com would image those early years.
Thank you for that reference. Off subject: there was a Miami based academic journal or newspaper called Catalyst or The Catalyst. Might have been Miami Dade College. If you have any idea of where, or if, this journal is archived I would love to find out. I am trying to track down a story, written by Joan Brazer, about my Aunt who taught there in the mid-1960's.

You couldn't have asked for a better shift change than that when you are 16.
Again, great history Casey. BTW, the University of Florida Libraries has published the first edition of the Miami Metropolis: https://ufdc.ufl.edu/UF00076100/00116/images/0

The Broward County Library also provides access to much of the Metropolis/News archives.

I will keep an eye out for The Catalyst. I have not come across it so far.
