OTD: June 25, 1924 - Property for Nolan Mansion Acquired
On June 25, 1924, George Nolan, president of Miami National Bank in downtown Miami, purchased property from E.J. Witham for $5000 and built his colonial-style mansion at 1548 Brickell Avenue. This residence still stands today and has been used as a law office, an art studio, shared office space, and a real estate sales showroom since its historic designation in 1997.
OTD: June 27, 1896 - Miami City of Miami Applies for Charter
On June 27, 1896, the Ocala Evening Star publishes an article entitled "Magic City of Miami Applies for Charter", using both the city's not yet official name of 'Miami' along with its nickname to announce the intention of a small outpost along Biscayne Bay to incorporate as a city. OTD: June 27, 1899 - Pan American Airlines Founder Juan Trippe was Born
On June 27, 1899, Juan Trippe, who was the founder of Pan American Airlines, was born in Sea Bright, New Jersey.
OTD: June 27, 1928 - Miami Beach Council Pledges to Oust Al Capone
On June 27, 1928, the headline in the Miami News read "Miami Beach Council Pledges Aid in Ousting Capone" stating clearly that the municipality was making it known that Al Capone was not welcome to live on Palm Island or anywhere else in the city of Miami Beach. OTD: June 30, 1930 - Trustee for Al Capone Acquires Island in Deerfield Beach

On June 30, 1930, Vincent Giblin, acting as trustee for Al Capone, purchased what would later be referred to as "Capone Island" in Deerfield Beach. It is now known as Deerfield Island Park.
